Sara Lazzaro is an international actress; bilingual (a native English and Italian speaker), she spent her childhood between Italy and California.

After graduating in Visual and Performing Arts from the Venice University Institute of Architecture, she moved to London to study at the renowned Drama Centre London.

From then on, she has been alternating cinema, theatre and TV projects in Italy, the UK and the USA.

She has starred in many productions,  including Paolo Sorrentino’s cult series The Young Pope, Cyrus Nowrasteh’s The Young Messiah, Giacomo Campiotti’s Braccialetti Rossi 3 (The Red Band Society 3) and Luca Manfredi’s film In arte Nino, based on Nino Manfredi’s life.

In theatre, she took part in ambitious projects such as the award-winning Interiors by Matthew Lenton, AfterPlay by Mattia Berto, The Coast of Utopia by Marco Tullio Giordana and Le donne gelose (The jealous women), a production of the Piccolo Teatro di Milano directed by Giorgio Sangati. 

From 2018 to 2019, she was on stage with Tempi Nuovi (New Times), a play written and directed by Cristina Comencini.

In 2018, she joined the cast of Matteo Oleotto’s TV series Volevo fare la rockstar (I wanted to be a rockstar), which proved to be a great success on Rai2, also thanks to its innovative language.

The following year, she was on the set of another major RAI production, Michele Soavi’s La guerra è finita (War is over).

In 2020, she made her comeback to cinema with Francesco Amato’s film 18 regali (18 presents), which won the David of the Youth at the 2021 David di Donatello Awards. In the same year, she was among the protagonists of Jan Michelini’s Doc - Nelle tue mani (Doc), one of Rai’s most successful series in recent years.

In 2021, she will be back on television in the long-awaited second series of Doc, in the new chapter of Volevo fare la rockstar and in the next season of Sky series Devils, directed by Nick Hurran and Jan Michelini.

As for cinema, she will also appear in Paolo Virzì’s Siccità (Drought), Renzo Carbonera’s documentary Pluto and Andrea Segre’s Welcome Venice.

Furthermore, this autumn we will see her on Netflix in Andrea Molaioli and Stefano Cipani’s Fedeltà (Fidelity), a series based on the book by Marco Missiroli.
