THE JURY MEETS

Biography

Born in Naples, he started his career as a special reporter for the newspaper “Il Mattino” and then he moved to Rome to work, again as a reporter, for the weekly “Tivù Tivù” directed by Arrigo Levi for Canale 5.
Afterwards, he returned to Naples, working as the editor-in-chief for “Roma”, and then he moved to Milano working as head of service for “L’Indipendente” and for the weekly “Epoca”.
After coming back to Naples in the late 1990’s, Fiore was hired as editor-in-chief by “Corriere del Mezzogiorno”, where he founded the virtual nation of Maccheronia, proclaiming himself emperor Grouchofiore and leading a group of followers for whom he prepared gastronomic expeditions in Italy (with the bus “La Corriera del Mezzogiorno”) and abroad (Basque region, Catalonia, China…). For almost twenty years he has been writing the famous weekly column “A Tavola” for “Corriere del Mezzogiorno”.
Besides gastronomy, he loves cinema (he was the screenwriter of “Matilda” by De Lillo and Magliulo) and he is also the author of a group essay on François Truffaut.
He also writes for the column on cinema “Occhio Privato” as well as editorials, cultural, social and show articles, together with the daily column “Afiorismi”, again for Corriere del Mezzogiorno. In 2017 he published the book “Occhio Privato”, which collects his reviews and his film meetings.
For theatre, Fiore created the trilogy “Zero”, interpreted by Tonino Taiuti (performed in Italy, France and Egypt) and he wrote dialogues for “Ritorno ad Alphaville”, a show by Mario Martone, arranged by Teatri Uniti and performed in the main European festivals and in Latin America.
In 2019 he was the protagonist in “L’uomo che rapì Truffaut”, screened at the fiftieth edition of Giffoni Film Festival.
