Films in competition on July 20

The day begins with a journey through feelings, in search for new opportunities: sorrow, prejudice and betrayal are at the core of the screenings in competition today. GIANT LITTLE ONES (Canada, 2018) is screened at 10:00 in Sala Truffaut. Keith Behrman’s film, which is reserved to Generator + 16, tells the story of Franky and Ballas’ friendship, subverted by an accident that will mark their lives forever.

At the same time, Elements + 6 will enjoy the screening of JACOB, MIMMI AND THE TALKING DOGS (Latvia, Poland, 2019) by Edmunds Jansons in Sala Lumière: Rocca, a 16-year-old determined girl, is ready to change the world and fight against prejudice together with her friends. Makoto Nagahisa’s film WE ARE LITTLE ZOMBIES (Japan, 2019) will be screened at 10:00 in Sala Blu – Grimaldi Lines for Generator +13: it’s the thrilling story of a musical band founded on a day of sorrow to find happiness again.

TEACHER (India, 2018) by Siddharth Malhotra follows the story of Naina, a teacher with Tourette’s syndrome, who is challenged by students: the film is screened for Elements +10 in Sala Alberto Sordi at 10:00. Generator +18 will enjoy the screening of Hafsia Herzi’s YOU DESERVE A LOVER (France, 2019) in 19:15 in Sala Lumière: it’s a story about love and betrayal, that goes from disillusion to solace while being led by craziness. As for GEX DOC category, Maya Newell’s documentary IN MY BLOOD IT RUNS (Australia, 2019) is screened at 15.00 in Sala Galileo to tell the adventures of Dujuan’s journey in search of a space to dream, imagine and hope for a better future.
