Biography

Born in Martina Franca in 1973, after studying law, he specialized in criminology and behavioral science. At the same time, he cultivated his passion for the stage, founding in 1992 the theater group Vivarte, for which he wrote and staged four shows. In 1999, he moved to Rome to start his career as a screenwriter. He wrote the TV series "Casa Famiglia" and "Casa Famiglia 2" and the miniseries "Era mio fratello" for Rai 1. Then, "Nassiriya - Prima della fine", for Canale 5, then he collaborated on "Squadra Antimafia", again for Canale 5, on "Nassiriya - Prima della fine" for Rai 2 and "Moana" for Sky. From March 2014, he wrote and hosted "Il sesto senso" on Rai 3, a program focused on the exploration of the human brain. In 2004, he won the Premio Solinas with the script "Il Croupier Nero". In addition to his scriptwriting activity, Carrisi is also a columnist for Corriere della Sera and author of novels, international best sellers, all published by Longanesi.

His first novel, "Il suggeritore", became, in 2009, an editorial case even before being published in Italy, with 7 foreign publishers who got the rights. In a few months, the number of countries where the book would be published got to 23. Il suggeritore sold over 1,000,000 copies and rose high in the charts not only in Italy: from Germany to France, from Britain to the US and China, earning the Bancarella Award. Later Carrisi published: "Il tribunale delle anime" (2011), "La donna dei fiori di carta" (2012), "L’ipotesi del male" (2013), "Il cacciatore del buio" (2014), "La ragazza nella nebbia" (2015), "Il maestro delle ombre" (2016) e "L’uomo del labirinto" (2017). "La ragazza nella nebbia", 2015, inspired last year the film of the same name, starring Jean Reno, Tony Servillo and Alessio Boni, with which Donato Carrisi made his directorial debut.
