Biography

Born in San Donà di Piave in 1965, Guido Sgardoli graduated in veterinary medicine, carrying out, in parallel with his studies, the passion for drawing, writing and animation. Since 2004, he has published over 80 titles of fiction dedicated to all age groups, from children to adults, with the main Italian publishers (Rizzoli, Giunti, Einaudi Ragazzi, Piemme, Mondadori). His books have crossed the boundaries, with translations in Spain, China, Japan, France, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Korea and Poland. He has also written for newspapers, cinema and television and won numerous awards: with "Eligio S. I giorni della ruota", published by Giunti, he won the Bancarellino Award in 2009, followed in the same year by the Andersen Award as best Italian writer. "Frozen boy" (Edizioni San Paolo) earned him the award for best writer in the 2012 Honour List of the International Board of Books for Young People Italy and, in the same year, the LiBeR Prize as best novel for children. 2015 saw him again winner of the Andersen Award with "Il giorno degli eroi" published by Rizzoli to conclude, in 2018, with a new Andersen Award, for "L'isola del muto" (Edizioni San Paolo).
