Biography
Marcello Macchia aka Maccio Capatonda, born in Chieti in 1978, is a director, actor, author and film-maker. After moving to Milan, he experimented and gave life to the “capatonda” style, made up of parodies, puns and nonsense. His first videos, broadcast in the "Mai dire.." program on Italia Uno, consecrate him as a viral phenomenon. With his production company, Shortcut Productions, he collaborates with Fox, Rai Tre, La7, All Music and produces commercials for big brands. He designs and produces for MTV two very successful series "Mario - una serie di Maccio Capatonda", a success among public and critics. Since the beginning of 2011 he is part of Italy’s highest-rated radio show, "Lo Zoo di 105" on Radio 105. His film debut in January 2015 was with "Italiano Medio", distributed by Medusa, of which he is author, director and leading actor, cashing 2 million at the box office in the first weekend.
In March of the same year he directed the web series produced exclusively for Infinity "Bob Torrent - La peggiore serie del web" from an idea by Leo Burnett. The partnership with Infinity continues with the social campaign I trailers di Maccio Capatonda, with the parodies in trailer format of the films available on Infinity. The campaign is hugely successful, with more than 800,000 views on YouTube. He is author, director and actor of "Mariottide - La sitcom", produced with Lotus Production, online since October 2016 on Infinity. In March of the same year he released his second film "Omicidio all'italiana", nominated as Best Comedy at the 2017 Nastro D'Argento awards. From November 2017, he engages in the new project of the television series for Sky entitled "The Generi", which he finishes by the end of February 2018.
