Once they were back in Italy, the delegation of Giffoners who participated in the 6th edition of the Giffoni Macedonia Youth Festival could not but put on paper the emotions, adventures and experiences in Skopje: an extraordinary event, which in addition to activities focused on cinema and art offered to the participants the possibility of a prestigious institutional meeting, thanks to the official participation of the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage Lucia Borgonzoni, together with the director of the Giffoni Experience Claudio Gubitosi. Undersecretary Borgonzoni met the Minister of Culture of Macedonia, Asaf Ademi, held a conference at the Department of Italian Studies of the University of Skopje, and participated in the activities of the Festival, meeting jurors, masterclassers and guests

October 5th
A group of youngsters who were meeting for the first time, two crazy chaperones and great excitement for the upcoming experience. It took them only 20 minutes on the bus to become friends and talk about everything and more. Once at the airport we had already become a small family ready to fly from Italy to Macedonia and start our new adventure. Once in Skopje we were welcomed by our hosts and their families. We settled down and we went for a general visit of the city.

October 6th
Free day to get to know each other and explore.

October 7th
Our festival finally begins, a festival a little different from ours but quite special. Here there are three different categories: Juniors, Cadets and Seniors. Most of us were in the Seniors. We started with the screening of a German film "The animal" that revolved around the problem of expressing one’s feelings and problems. After the film and a coffee, it was time for the opening ceremony. Here we were immediately welcomed by the Italian ambassador and even took a picture with him. At the end of the opening ceremony the Macedonian jurors had organized a party to welcome us.

October 8th
Early wake up call, like every morning, breakfast and off to the Millenium cinema for another film: "When the trees fall": a complicated and tortured love stort that captured the jury’s attention. The film was followed by a Q&A. After that we went to the MKC. The workshops were many and all very interesting but we did not miss our usual coffee. The afternoon went by quickly with a thousand laughs and our attempts to speak Macedonian.

October 9th
Today was a very important day for us Italian jurors; to welcome us in the cinema hall the director Claudio Gubitosi who took part in the opening ceremony of the Senior category. It was very exciting for us to preview the video of Giffoni 2018 and share those emotions with the jurors who have never participated in Giffoni. In the afternoon we took part in the photography workshop and had the pleasure of seeing the pictures taken by us on the big screen. In the evening we all went for a walk in the city center.

October 10th
Another day full of emotions. We met the director Gubitosi and other important Italian figures, including Lucia Borgonzoni and Carlo Romeo. We had the opportunity to chat with them and, after the usual coffee, we spent the afternoon dancing with the Dj Set by Gianni. At the end of the night we were tired so we only went for a walk to the park.

October 11th
The day we least wanted to arrive was here; There were tears, hugs and good byes which concluded our fantastic and indescribable experience in Macedonia. The day was full of fun and we tried to spend as much time as possible together, with the desire to keep in touch. The closing ceremony was moving, reliving all the moments we experienced here was beautiful. This experience has changed our lives, made us grow and mature. We will always carry in our hearts, the people we met, the places we went to and every single moment. We can only say thanks for everything, for making all of this possible. We will return home with empty hearts but with smiling faces and above all with many memories that we will never forget. Thank you!
