The opening ceremony of the 17th edition of the Week of Italian Language in the World was held on 16 October at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in Canton (China), with the participation of the Consul General Laura Egoli, the vice-president of the department of Western languages Yang Xiaomin, Deputy Director of the International Office Wu Junfeng and teachers and students of the Italian language faculty. The graduate course, in its ten years of development, has formed 900 graduates who are now ambassadors and linking rings in the cultural exchange between China and Italy.
The opening ceremony was followed by the conference "From literary text to screenplay", with speaker Andrea Filardi, screenwriter and director, and representative of Giffoni Experience. During his presentation, Filardi explained the difference between book and adaptation for cinema. Taking as an example a piece of the film "The Godfather", he compared the script and novel from which the work was taken. Filardi also illustrated the many activities of the Giffoni Film Festival, hoping that there will be a greater participation of Chinese students in the festival juries in the future.
