Education: Miur And The Giffoni Film Festival Initial New Protocol

An intent protocol between the Italian Ministry of Education and the Giffoni Film Festival has been initialled on 21st July at Giffoni. The three-year protocol, as explained by Minister Valeria Fedeli during her visit to the most famous Citadel of Cinema in the world, provides for a virtuous cooperation between Italian schools and Giffoni. ”I’m especially proud – said the Minister – of signing this protocol, which I consider of vital importance for the enhancement of our children’s educational path. Giffoni history, expertise and quality can be very useful for our schools and universities”.

The agreement is aimed at promoting cinema among young people in schools of all levels, as well as systematizing Giffoni’s wide cultural offering, enhancing the contribution given by teachers and students to the festival. Training courses will be organized for teachers on the use of audiovisual language in schools and further cooperation is planned between Miur and Giffoni in organizing the UNESCO Day for Audiovisual Heritage and promoting work experience projects concerning all the Giffoni fields and activities

“The activities carried out by the festival for 47 years now – Minister Fedeli went on – are or vital importance and I will never stop thanking the local institutions and the people who created the Giffoni Film Festival: what you do here must be made available to all Italian students. Giffoni is a major excellence which deserves to be known by and put into all the Italian education system. The signing of the intent protocol was also attended by Telefono Azzurro President Ernesto Caffo, who’s been collaborating with Giffoni for years.

“The language of cinema and this year’s theme (Into the Magic) hold a great fascination for young people – concluded the Minister – who also had the chance to visit the Multimedia Valley and answer a few questions coming from the jurors crowding Sala Truffaut – providing them with culture, motivation and curiosity. They grow stronger here, and when they come back home they are ready to face other challenges in their life. I’m so excited: to me, being here and signing the intent protocol between the Ministry and Giffoni is a huge source of satisfaction. I believe in it, I really care for this project”.
